Sony Mobile Puts Xperia SP Under Investigation Of Android 4.4 KitKat Update After Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Upgrade

Sony Xperia SP owners are now probably enjoying their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which is seeding live. The Android 4.4 KitKat update status for SP has been changed by Sony Mobile and now "under investigation" like Xperia T and V.
Under Investigation
Sony seems to have a change of heart for Xperia SP after sending out the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade as it tagged the device "under investigation" in getting Android 4.4 KitKat. According to the before and after status caught by XperiaBlog regarding the future update plans for Xperia SP, Sony did consider Android 4.4 KitKat while Xperia T and V were subjected for further review.
Based on the screenshots, Sony Mobile posted before Android 4.4 as the future software version of Xperia SP. But right after the official rollout of Android 4.3, the support page changed into "under investigation" of Android 4.4 KitKat update.
This looked like Sony Mobile didn't confirm or finalize the review of Android KitKat for Xperia SP and with the delay of Android 4.3 release, the company may not even bother updating the smartphone anymore.
Based on the 18-month update window period, Xperia SP has been launched with Android 4.1 version in April 2013 and hasn't celebrated its first year anniversary. Update support for the device will end around October 2014, which probably another Android version is going to be available by then.
Sony Mobile may reconsider Xperia SP, Xperia T and Xperia V in getting Android KitKat as the final firmware version since all three can handle the software based on the set of processor cores, graphics chipset and RAM.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update
While Sony Mobile is busy investigating Android KitKat update for Xperia SP, owners from Australia, Bulgaria, Central Europe, Greece, Malaysia, Netherlands and the UK can now download and install the latest update via Sony PC Companion, Sony Bridge for Mac and SUS software using a computer.
It features the following changes in the smartphone:
-     Android 4.3 goodies: Project Butter, Daydream, Lock screen Widgets
-     Revamped UI based on Android 4.3 firmware of other Xperia devices
-     New Sony Xperia Home launcher
-     Updated Sony media apps - ALBUM and Movies, WALKMAN
-     Updated camera app with option to download more camera modes
-     Improved task manager and small apps
-     More stock themes and wallpapers
-     Redesign of contacts and messaging app
-     Improved STAMINA mode for prolonged battery life
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update seeming stalled, possibly so that Samsung can fix a major issue on board, Galaxy Note 3 owners are unsurprisingly searching for answers in regard to their missing KitKat updates. We’ve been trying to track down as much information as we can and today, we have one new Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update detail to share.
Earlier this year, Samsung surprisingly started rolling out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update. The update was surprising because it beat the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update to release and because it rolled out without any prior warning. The update, for the moment, is limited to a few regions around the world though it’s not clear why the roll out is taking so long to push.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update users did encounter an issue with third-party accessories and Samsung did promise a fix for the problem. So, perhaps, Samsung and its carrier partners are working to iron out this issue before they roll out any more Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades.
Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat details are scarce though carriers are starting to release information about their respective upgrades. Last week, we saw Canadian carrier Rogers suggest that both the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates are coming soon. And today, another carrier has confirmed a Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update for arrival.

ThreeUK, in response to a question on Twitter, claims that its Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is in testing at the moment. It does not go into any details about its release but it’s a sign that the update is on the way to at least some customers in the United Kingdom. Before today, we had yet to see any kind of confirmation for that region.
Because the update is in testing, doesn’t mean that a release is close. Testing is unpredictable and carriers move at their own pace, weeding out issues and optimizing the software for public consumption. Still, this is fantastic news for users on ThreeUK and it likely means that other carriers in the UK, and elsewhere, are also working on the update in their labs.
American carriers remain mum about the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update though we did see the AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update leak out well ahead of time in January.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is not a massive change from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but it does deliver a number of likeable features including emoji support and an easy way to switch between the default messaging app and Hangouts.
