Internet giant Google buys security company Imprermium for an undisclosed amount.
Google has acquired a three-year old start-up called Imprermium that builds cyber security products for websites. The acquisition was announced by Impermium’s CEO and Co-Founder, Mark Risher in a post. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed yet.
Impermium's website now has just a note from Risher, stating, 'Impermium is joining Google'. It goes on to say: "By joining Google, our team will merge with some of the best abuse fighters in the world. With our combined talents we'll be able to further our mission and help make the internet a safer place. We're excited about the possibilities."
The startup that had two Indians Vish Ramarao and Naveen Jamal and a third co-founder Mark Risher. The trio worked together for Yahoo! before starting Imprermium in 2010. The company has offices in Bangalore and California.
Impermium received $9 million in funding from a host of venture firms including Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures, AOL Ventures and Highland Capital Partners. The company reportedly has over 300,000 clients, including Pinterest, Tumblr, ESPN, CNN, Typepad and Washington Post among others.
This acquisition comes a few days after Facebook acquired its first Indian start-up Little eye labs. Little Eye Labs creates tools to help mobile app developers to optimise their products’ performance. According to reports, the entire Little Eye Labs team will shift to Facebook headquarters in California as part of the deal. The interest of big Internet giants like Facebook and Google will provide a much needed boost to Indian start-up eco-system.
